Lone Fir Cemetary

Lone Fir Cemetery

Hiram and Alvira Prindel are resting in the Lone Fir Cemetery located on Lobster Valley Road in Lobster Valley, Oregon. The cemetery was established in the 1880's on the Sapp family homestead and deeded to the community. One of the earliest burials was Mabel Sapp who died of dysentery at the age of two. The lone fir tree that gave the cemetery its name still stands at the edge of the cemetery.

At the bottom of the stone engraved with Hirams name is engraved "gone but not forgotten". Below the headstone is a base with the word Prindel engraved. The base stone is loose from the foundation. The cement that held the three pieces of the tomb stone together has deteriated over time. The base is tilted at about thirty degrees to steep to replace the vertical stone. We stood the head stone up again but left it standing on the ground. A professional will need to inspect, suggest repairs and estimate costs.

Top Left Hiram and Alvira Prindel's
names are engraved on two sides of the same stone ninety degrees to each other. On September 9th, 2004 the stone was found to be in disrepair. Tipped off the base the stone appeared to be weathered but basically undamaged. The side with Hiram engraved on the surface is faded and must have been turned to the weather. The side with Alvira engraved is in better condition with more detail of the engraving visible.
